The Church That's on the Lord's Side by Dr. 'Tayo Brown
November 9-15, 2003
"Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and
said, who is on the LORD S SIDE? Let him come unto me. And
all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him"
Exodus 32: 26
This might be a familiar scripture to most of us but is
it a reality and are we truly on the Lord's side? To me this
is a very serious question that needs to be answered by
action not by mere words. If you are not on the Lord ' side
you will definitely be on the devil s side for there are
only two sides. How are we going to answer this question
today? The Levites answered by gathering themselves unto
Moses and those on the Lord s side must answer likewise. To
be on the Lord s side means you are living for Him, you are
doing His will, because you are of Him. Among the Church of
today, there are people who are not on the Lord's side. The
enemy has a lot of wolves in sheep's clothing. Beware of
false prophets, which come to you in sheep s clothing, BUT
INWARDLY they are ravening wolves Matt. 7: 15.
On the external we all profess Jesus as Lord, we all
claim to be on the Lord's side. Man look on the outside, but
we must be like God who looks on the inside. What is going
on inwardly? We are sheep outwardly but ravening devouring
wolves inwardly. Paul said, For I know this, that after my
departure shall grievous wolves enter in AMONG YOU, not
sparing the flock . How will they destroy or devour the
flock? Speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples
after them Acts 20: 29-30.
If Moses were to ask every Christian in the world today
this same question, I believe almost everybody will raise
their hands and confess or shout that I am on the Lord s
side. If you are not joined to the Lord to become one body
with him but you are joined to the world, you are not on his
side.
Today, the Church uses Spiritual things to make money,
although they profess they are on the Lord's side but in
works they deny him. They profess that they know God; but in
works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and
unto every good work reprobate Titus 1: 16. Simon was a
former sorcerer. He believed the gospel, was born again and
baptized. The Bible says He continued with Philip, and
wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done
And Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles
hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
saying give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay
hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost But Peter said unto him
thy money perish with thee for thy heart is not right in the
sight of God for I perceive that thou art in the gall of
bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity Acts 8: 9-23.
If I may ask, what is your motive for wanting the power
of God in your life and ministry? What is your motive for
allowing people to share those powerful testimonies? Is it
truly to the glory of God? Though you profess to be on the
Lord's side, you might be wrong. Simon professed and was
baptized, he was even in the apostolic crew but he was in
the gall of bitterness and bond of iniquity which is not the
Lord's side, if before this time you ask Simon to identify
which side he belong of a truth he will say he is on the
Lord's side but he is not. ARE YOU ON THE LORD'S SIDE?
