The Tabernacle of Moses Vs. Golden Calf by Dr. 'Tayo Brown
November 2-8, 2003
"Speak unto the children of Isarel, that they bring me
an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his
heart…and let them make me a sanctuary; THAT I MAY DWELL
AMONG THEM. According to all that I shew thee…" Exodus 25:
1,8, 9
The Lord's desire for the Children of Israel is to dwell
among them forever, just like the Lord desire to dwell among
his Church. That was his original plan when he made Adam and
Eve; he visits them in the garden. "Behold the tabernacle
of God is with men, and HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM, and they
shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and
be their God" Rev. 21: 3
This was why the Lord asked Moses to come to the mount so as
to see the pattern of the heavenly tabernacle which was a
type of God's presence in their midst however Moses delayed
while on the mount. "And when the people saw that Moses
delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered
themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make
us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses,
the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot
not what is become of him". Exodus 32: 1
Does this sound like what is going on among God's people
today, it seems as if the Lord delayed at his return and the
people have heaped to themselves teachers having itching
ears, they will not endure "sound doctrine". They have soon
turned away their ears from the truth and have turned to
FABLES (11 Tim. 4: 3-4). Although the people have left
Egypt, Egypt is still in their hearts. The devil brought up
his scheme and deceit while Moses delayed and Aaron made the
"golden calf" to represent the god that brought them out of
Egypt. What is today's' golden calf? - Fables. They were
already spotted with Egypt. That is why the scripture
admonished us to keep ourselves unspotted from the world.
What was the Lord's reaction? " … That I may consume
them: and make of thee a great nation" Exodus 32: 10
If you can discern, you will see this same picture in the
Church of today, Jesus in his parable of the Goodman of the
house said "But if that evil servant shall say in his heart,
My Lord delayeth his coming" Matt 24: 48 In the parable of
the ten virgins the Lord said "While the bridegroom
tarried, they all slumbered and slept" Mat 25: 5
Brethren, I believe beyond every shadow of doubt that we are
about to cross over that period of delay. The purpose of the
delay is for sifting. It is only those who endure to the end
that shall be saved. Majority live as if the Master is not
coming again, they have forsaken the real vision, they do
not even have time to renew the kingdom at Gilgal. Instead
of Saul to patiently wait for the Lord's redemption
according to the command of Samuel in Gilgal he intruded
into the priestly office because Samuel did not show up at
the appointed seven days, he delayed. "He was rejected for
being King as a result of this. "But now thy kingdom shall
not continue" is God's word to him"(1 Sam. 13) "And When
Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made
them naked unto their shame among their enemies) Then Moses
stood in the gate of the camp, and said, WHO IS ON THE
LORD'S SIDE" Ex.32: 25-26 The difference between Moses being
taken up to the mount (a type of Jesus' accession) and
coming back to see majority of the people turning to the
golden calf is "Time". He delayed.
